Are there beautiful, light-reflecting glass facades that are also environmentally friendly? Yes, Steni makes façade panels from recycled and tumbled glass.

For many years, Steni has made natural and environmentally friendly façade panels with surfaces of crushed stone. They still do; however they have also taken a step further by recycling and reusing tons of old glass to create gorgeous façade panels with elegant and natural play on light reflection.

The pictures show an almost finished building with Steni Nature Glass in the Netherlands, and the developer is already working on the next project.

The glass façade panels are the result of years of hard work and testing, involving several renowned architects to ensure optimal results. The panels were launched as part of the new collection with Steni Nature and are now available in varieties of white or mixed glass.

In the new collection of Steni Nature, you will also find surfaces made of river stone and one of Norway's most exciting minerals, olivine.

Unique expression by light reflection

From a distance, the façade panels give a cohesive and stylish appearance with sparkling light reflection. And on a closer look, you can see thousands of tiny pieces of natural glass in the surface, which together form the fascinating expression.

-The glass creates a unique expression where surroundings, light conditions and sustainability are reflected in the façade. It provides a game and a dynamic you won't find anywhere else," says Jan Terje Nielsen, Head of Communications at Steni.

Smooth, nice, and robust

With a recycled glass surface, it's easy to think you're getting a façade with sharp edges, however it's not like that.

-Thanks to an advanced tumbling process, sharp edges are rounded, while the surface creates sparkling reflections," says Nielsen.

And should you have any doubts; These façade panels have the same quality as the other façade panels from Steni; This is according to Steni’s Head of Communications:

"Impact resistance, robustness and a 60-year functional warranty apply here as well. It has now become a matter of fact with façade panels from Steni.

Environmentally friendly reuse

Among Steni's most important pillars, you will find an unwavering goal of producing as environmentally friendly façade panels as possible. Therefore, Steni's façade panels have always consisted of natural surfaces, now including recycled glass.

"Glass is indeed a processed material, but glass originates from molten sand. The glass we use is reuse of old bottles, windowpanes and the like. Then we create facades that prove that recycled materials can give a fantastic expression," says Nielsen.

A recent example with a glass façade

In Statenjacht outside Amsterdam, a high-rise building is being built with façade panels from Steni. 3,000 square meters of recycled glass façade panels. It creates a beautiful and unique surface that is light-reflecting, environmentally friendly and on nature's terms. Here you can watch a video showing the project.
