A truly striking simulator building

The Newton Flight Academy opened on 17 June in Bodø. Around 300 square metres of Steni Vision and Steni Colour façade panels give the school building a quite unique profile.

“We wanted a building that was aesthetically pleasing and functional, with an attractive interior – a diamond both inside and out. And Steni Vision façade panels, with the exact printed images we wanted, have given our building that special expression we were looking for. And it all turned out beautifully, didn’t it?”

Three flight simulators

Newton Flight Academy aims to stimulate children's and young people's interest in aerodynamics, navigation and metrology. They will also have the opportunity to try flying in mobile simulators.

Stian Elstad of FIRST Scandinavia, is proud of the new building at the Newton Flight Academy, which has been erected right outside the Norwegian Aviation Museum. This is a building designed for instruction and learning on aviation, which houses three flight simulators, each of which cost around NOK 1 million.

“We want to help to stimulate children's and young people's interest in science and technology. Here, we will be teaching youngsters about aerodynamics, navigation and metrology. The students will also have the opportunity to try flying in our mobile simulators. Although we are not a flight school, we hope to give people a taste of what flying is really like. We will also be open to the general public,” explains Elstad. He believes that Newton Flight Academy will be of interest to companies, flying clubs and of course anyone who is interested in aviation.

Since 2000, the FIRST Scandinavia foundation has developed and implemented concepts and projects within the field of science for more than 200,000 children and young people. FIRST LEGO League Scandinavia (FLL) and Newton are the foundation’s two largest and most important concepts, with ongoing projects in 65 cities.

Smooth, printed surface

Steni Vision façade panels have a smooth, printed surface. You can create your own unique façade expression using your own photos, illustrations and/or other motifs. Naturally, Newton Flight Academy has used aviation-related illustrations.

Steni Vision gives the building a quite unique visual appearance – there is no doubt that the focus is aviation.
